Moonlight Lumis GMT

The Lumis uses a Swiss Ronda GMT movement with a custom 24-hour sun/moon display.

Unlike a standard second timezone GMT, the sun/moon hand is designed to act as a 24-hour day/night indicator, completing one full rotation every 24 hours.

The chapter ring around the dial shows this 24-hour cycle:

  • 6 = Sunrise
  • 18 = Sunset
  • The sun rises and sets as the hand moves around the dial throughout the day.

Crown Positions

Position 1 — GMT Hand Adjustment

Pull the crown out to Position 1.

Turn the crown anti-clockwise to adjust the sun/moon GMT hand.

This hand moves around the 24-hour chapter ring and should be aligned with the correct time of day.

Position 2 — Main Time Adjustment

Pull the crown out to Position 2.

Turn the crown clockwise to set the main hour and minute hands as normal.

Recommended Initial Setup

For the easiest setup:

  1. Pull the crown to Position 2
  2. Set:
    • The hour hand to 12
    • The minute hand to 12
  3. Pull the crown back to Position 1
  4. Set the sun/moon GMT hand to 12 on the 24-hour chapter ring

This gives you a clean starting point with all hands aligned.

Setting the Correct Time

Now advance the watch to the current local time.

Example: Setting the watch to 6:00 PM

When correctly set:

  • The minute hand points to 12
  • The hour hand points to 6
  • The sun/moon GMT hand points horizontally toward 18 on the chapter ring

At this point:

  • The main hands are displaying 6:00 PM
  • The GMT hand confirms it is 18:00 (6 PM) in the 24-hour cycle
  • The sun/moon display visually reflects sunset/day-to-night transition

Important Notes

  • The main hour and minute hands should always be read normally, like a standard watch.
  • The sun/moon GMT hand completes one full rotation every 24 hours.
  • It is designed primarily as a day/night indicator, rather than a second timezone display.
  • Once set correctly, the display will naturally track the progression from sunrise to sunset and through the night.
